Project Overview
The initiative titled “Game Time for a Green Future: Make Your Move Against Climate Change!” focuses on enhancing secondary school students’ awareness and comprehension of climate change and sustainability through engaging, game-based educational resources. The project’s goal is to empower young learners to become knowledgeable, responsible, and solution-driven citizens who actively contribute to tackling environmental challenges.
Core Activities
The project involves several key activities including three Learning, Teaching, and Training (LTT) events, five Transnational Project Meetings (TPMs)—three held virtually—along with two virtual and two local events aimed at strengthening cooperation and material development among partners.
Project Results
Among the anticipated outcomes are a comprehensive report exploring innovations in climate education through creativity and technology, a multilingual digital archive of climate learning materials, a curated library of tested educational resources, and an integrated web and mobile application designed to support green education initiatives throughout the project duration.
Timeline and Partnership
Running from October 2024 until October 2026, this international collaboration includes partners from Germany, Spain, Denmark, Iceland, and Türkiye, all working collectively to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for active participation in climate action on multiple levels.
Transnational Project Meeting
Kick-off Meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland
The First Transnational Project Meeting for the “Climate Challenge Adventure” took place on November 26–27, 2024, in Reykjavík, Iceland. The meeting began with an overview of the project’s vision to promote climate awareness and develop innovative educational tools that engage both students and teachers. Participants thoroughly reviewed the project’s objectives, timeline, and key deliverables. The primary aim was to finalize the detailed work plan and confirm a mutual understanding of partner roles and responsibilities. Additionally, the consortium agreed on the dates and hosts for upcoming project meetings, ensuring smooth coordination moving forward.
First LTT in Denmark
Between December 16 and 19, 2024, Mariagerfjord Gymnasium in Hobro, Denmark, hosted the project’s first mobility event, bringing together educators and students from partner countries. This Learning, Teaching, and Training activity facilitated international collaboration, encouraged exchange of best practices, and promoted the development of innovative teaching methods centered on climate education. The event successfully deepened participants’ knowledge and prepared them for the next phases of the project.
Second LTT in Türkiye
The second LTT took place from May 5 to May 9, 2025, in and around Balıkesir, Türkiye. The week began with introductory sessions, including project presentations and interactive ice-breaker activities, followed by discussions on circular economy and sustainability. The following days featured workshops on digital storytelling, animation creation, and digital game design, incorporating gamification and sustainability concepts. Participants also experienced hands-on coding using Unreal Engine and engaged in testing developed games. A nature excursion to Kaz Mountains and a visit to Assos Ancient City provided experiential learning opportunities. The program concluded with workshops on recycling and zero waste, presentations on green school models, and a celebratory closing ceremony including cultural performances and a farewell gathering.
